which is true. I know only God’s Word is true. But as I am, I just don’t know. ~A
Lots of people have varying amounts of questions and deliberations when they are considering heading to the Seminary. I debated getting an advanced degree in another field first, or just waiting and going to the Seminary second career. I know some who actually have done that – my father for one. And I know some who thought about it and ended up never going.
And any one of those options – now, later, or never is perfectly fine for you.
See, there is no passage of Scripture that says, “A – thou shall hie thee to a Seminary!” Nor is there one that says, “A – keep away from my Seminary, and steppest not thy foot thereupon.” At this time, for you, this is a matter of freedom.
Instead of using the language of “feel led” – because, well, that feeling isn’t objective truth, I would suggest this. You have the option of applying to go to the Seminary (true fact). Many people who know you think this could be a good thing (true fact). Therefore it’s something for you to consider with prayer or patience. Maybe you apply this year – maybe it doesn’t work out this year but you apply later. Maybe there are other things you need to get done first. I don’t know your situation, but right now your hand isn’t on any plow, you have not received a call yet – Luke 9 isn’t in play yet.
You are free. We need good pastors. We need good laymen. Whether you stay or whether you go, God will use you to serve you neighbor – you are free. You are a forgiven child of God – that’s true whether you go or stay.
May your deliberations be peaceful,
